Replacement Circular Fire Grate For Franco Belge Montfort Classic

The Replacement Circular Fire Grate For Franco Belge Montfort Classic is a cast iron centre grate made from a high quality cast iron fire grate that sits in the centre of the Franco Belge Montfort's fire box.

The circular grate for the Montfort Classic (MK1) stove is easy to fit and allows riddling of the excess soot and ash to fall down into the ashpan below the grate.

Installation Instructions

Installation Instructions:

Installing the Franco Belge Montfort Classic Circular fire grate is extremely easy and can be completed in around 3-5 minutes.

  • Clean the stove out to ensure easy removal of the grate.
  • Remove existing grate by lifting the grate.  You may need to remove the ashpan and push the grate up from underneath.
  • Ensure the area where the grate sits is clear from any debris that may restrict the movement of the new grate.
  • Replace the grate by placing the grate in at an angle with the long arm going in first.
  • Place the long arm of the grate on to the riddling arm loop and then drop the grate into place flat.
  • Riddle the grate using the external arm to ensure the grate can move freely.

Fire Brick Warranty Information:

Please note that due to the very nature of firebricks there are no warranties provided by the manufacturers.  Fire bricks are excluded from any warranties in the same way as car brake pads would be due to the many variances that can cause these parts to deteriorate.

When used correctly and carefully fire bricks can last 12 months and sometimes even longer. Please note that using the fire only a few times before the brick cracks does not mean that the brick is faulty as it may have absorbed moisture, a log may have moved during firing and hit the brick or simply been overfired.  Bricks can still be used if cracked.  As long as the crack is not over 6mm wide (Pound coin) then it will still insulate in the same way.
